Rock the Dock--Featuring Grand Republic

9/12/2019 - To welcome Hootie and the Blowfish back to their hometown of Columbia and the University of South Carolina, the Koger Center for the Arts is proud to present Rock the Dock. Join us behind the Koger Center on the Park Street loading dock for a pre-show and post-show party on Thursday, September 12th and Friday, September 13th featuring local rock bands Grand Republic and E.Z. Shakes. Come and park early before or stay late after Hootie and the Blowfish for music, drinks, and entertainment backstage on the Koger Center loading dock! Regular Columbia music scene members from the 90's and 2000's return with a new band, Grand Republic, fronted by guitarist and songwriter John Furr and joined with his long-time musical partner Troy Tague behind the drum kit. Grand Republic's music focuses on layering dense textures of lush and dissonant guitar tones, pschedelic swirling dreamscapes, simple vocal hooks and mid-tempo rhythms. The group includes Furr (vocals, guitar), Tague (vocal, drums), Jonathan Bradley (guitar, percussion, electronics), Craig Keeney (bass), and Jay Barry (keyboards and guitar). Rock the Dock will take place at 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm on the Koger Center loading dock on Park Street before and after the Hootie and the Blowfish concert at the Colonial Life Arena. Rock the Dock will feature Grand Republic on September 12th and E.Z. shakes on September 13th.
